ZoomMate (formerly Zoom AI Companion)
Zoom's agentic AI add-on; core meeting AI features stay included in paid Zoom Workplace plans
Best for
Organizations already on Zoom Workplace that want meeting summaries at no extra cost, and an agentic add-on for search, follow-up tasks and documents.
Overview
Zoom retired the AI Companion name in 2026: core AI features such as meeting summaries and transcription are now simply part of paid Zoom Workplace plans, and the agentic product is ZoomMate, a paid add-on built on Custom AI Companion. ZoomMate searches across Zoom and connected apps, runs follow-up workflows and creates documents, metered by AI credits.
Strengths and limits
- Meeting summaries, transcription and My Notes included with eligible paid Zoom Workplace plans
- ZoomMate adds agentic search with cited answers, workflows and content creation
- Connects to Salesforce, Jira, Slack, ServiceNow, Workday, Google and Microsoft apps
- Agentic features are a paid add-on and metered by AI credits (2,200 per user per month)
- Naming is in transition: Zoom dropped the 'AI Companion' brand in 2026, so older help pages and admin screens may still use it
What the free plan includes
Zoom Workplace Basic (free) includes limited AI: 3 hosted-meeting summaries, 3 My Notes uses, 20 AI queries and 10 workflow runs per month. Core AI features (meeting summaries, transcription, My Notes) are included at no extra cost with eligible paid Zoom Workplace plans.
